Tiny update: Dark SkiesDark Skies - Twitter Posts Reveal that Shout! Factory has Acquired DVD Rights for The Complete Series Bonus material is being planned, according to the DVD producer's tweets
Posted by David Lambert 8/11/2010 Recently we posted the "rumor" that the long-awaited DVD release of Dark Skies - The Complete Series was on the way at last. That it wasn't coming directly from Sony, but that the studio had done the amazing job of clearing all the music on the show (something which had stymied an attempt to release it several years back). But that's all the "gossip" we were given to spread at the time. Now, more has been revealed! Yesterday afternoon Shout! Factory DVD producer Brian Ward posted a number of tweets on Twitter, starting out "innocently" with the comment "Uh oh... Did this leak? (tee hee)" He continued that same tweet with a link to yesterday morning's write-up at as site called FuriousFanBoys.com, where they mentioned the title coming to DVD from Shout!, and citing a date of January 20th. That's a Thursday, though, so we know it's incorrect as DVD releases almost always happen on Tuesdays. Ward confirmed this by finishing his first tweet with the comment "Oh, date's a tad bit off." No corrected street date has been offered, however. As the afternoon went on yesterday, Ward posted two other tweets on Twitter that mentioned the show. The Shout! DVD producer, who also produced yesterday's release of Max Headroom, commented that he was planning to go home and celebrate that release after he had been "intensely working on the packaging & potential bonus features for DARK SKIES today" (note the use of the word *potential*...of course planned DVD extras don't always work out, because of legal issues or due to unavailability of the necessary people, among other reasons). Ward does have high hopes for this set, we see, since his final comment of the day about it on Twitter was to tweet that "If it all works out, DARK SKIES is going to be awesome. Can't wait!" We also can't wait, and we know all of the show's fans among our readers can't wait either! Stay tuned for updates about this highly anticipated release. Here is some info I saw today. Looks like release date is Jan 18 reflectionsonfilmandtelevision.blogspot.com/2010/10/dark-skies-to-be-de-classified-on-dvd.html

Sharon!
Thanks for all the info here... I admit... I never have watched this show... so I don't know much about it... but the latest info you have posted is definitely currently... It was just posted on October 13, 2010... and from the sound of it, Eric will be part of a sit down to talk about the pilot and a few other episodes...
Whoa... That's a first! I don't think he ever did that for WAT...
Looks like this is definitely something to ask for Santa this year! Like a gift card seeing it comes out in January... Hehe!
PS: I will go back reading to the previous post... but does anyone know what kind of role Eric plays in this???

Sharon,
Really?
LOL! As you can tell... I never gotten around to get the set... especially after the show turned bad...
But I did read somewhere that WAT never really took off in terms of DVD... and they never released Season 3 in the US? I tried looking for it on Amazon and only managed to find Season 1 and 2 there...

It's a science-fiction series, something similar to "X-files", if you happened to see it. I saw some episodes, jumping here and there, but anyway Eric's character and his girl-friend find themselves involved in something very big concerning the American government that has to deal with alien forces. Some episodes are very good, others are so and so. What's interesting is that, through the story, the two main characters find themselves to live some of the most important moments of American history.

I'm surprised you can't find them. I am always gettings offers for them, mainly from ebay.

Hey Cindy - Eric plays the lead character John Loengaurd so he is in a lot of the scenes. Not like the later seasons of WAT when we hardly ever saw him. And IMO he looks fantastic in the series.
I agree with Iretos that some episodes are better than others but I think you can say that about most shows.
I'm really looking forward to seeing the extras with the cast interviews. That should be fun to watch.

Trivia question and NO cheating!!! EC's co-star in Dark Skies is Megan Ward. She plays his girlfriend. In what WOAT episode did she have a guest spot? Try to guess. NO CHEATING!! As I said in earlier posts, I recommend this show. I enjoyed it a lot. EC played rogue FBI agent, John Loengard Gregory Harrison (Gonzo, Trapper John, MD) does the John Loengard voice overs. I read that........ Scroll down for MAJOR pilot spoiler: If there was going to be a second season, GH was going to play future John Loengard and EC was going to play his now grown son. I guess they were going to jump 20-25 yrs.

Well, I know it now because I checked it on Imdb (hi hi hi!!!). I would have never remembered it, because it's one of the three episodes of the whole series I liked less. Like Sharon, I'll leave the chance to somebody else!

Dee, you're awesome!! Thank you!! I just love the look on Eric's face in that first pic as he's looking at the screen - he seems really bemused!!! Maybe he's thinking 'God, I look so young back then!' Adore that second one - he looks as cute as he does in the article Mimi posted recently about 'Unanswered Prayers'. But OMG! Isn't the guy behind him absolutely huge?? He makes our boy look tiny!! 'Dark Skies' has already been released this side of the pond, but the DVD is just the episodes - no extras. So I'm going to hold off and get the US version when it comes out next year. Thank goodness for Region-Free DVD Players!!!
