Have you heard they are putting the new ER on channel 4 now and 'classic' episodes on E4!! YAY! I had heard that but unless I'm mistaken, after a House Divided, which was shown last thurs on E4 and is shown this monday on channel 4, theres not a new episode of ER until Monday the 16th of April. So for E4 viewers who have seen A House Divided already (like me) we have to wait just over two weeks for a new ep. And for that matter C4 viewers will have to wait two weeks as well once they see the ep on Monday. Sigh. I want new ER! (I love the old stuff too but I have seasons 1 - 6 on dvd so I can see them anytime)

Wow, looks like I'm not the only one who thinks Luby is the worst thing to ever come out of ER. Last night's ratings were the lowest the show has gotten for a first run episode. In fact, I think it was even lower than any rerun. 5.3 in the overnights.
Hope it doesn't come back in the fall.

I always, always despised Luby. And not just because I was a huge Carter/Abby fan, although admittedly I was.
I was a huge fan of this show until John Wells took over after Orman left. Wells may be my least favorite person in the history of the television business, just for the records.
I just find Luby, and the recent seasons of ER, to be an absolute farce. I've maybe watched five full episodes since midway through Season 10. It seems awful that NBC keeps clinging to ER because they've done so poorly overall in the ratings. Please, the horse is dead, just leave it be and let me enjoy my DVDs with Doug Ross and Carol Hathaway and Susan Lewis pre-return arc.
Also, ER has had not had a single satisfying exit arc in the past couple of seasons. Romano crushed by a helicopter may be the very worst, though.

I always, always despised Luby. Me too. I'm so glad the showing is dying when they have Luby front and certain. They can spin all they want but it started going downhill in season 6, when they brought Luka and Abby on the show and they began writing them as lovers, one awful step at a time. Hope GV goes back to Europe and stars in artsy fartsy stuff that he so loves. MT is never going to rise above B movie status now.

The problem with Luby is that it was set up so poorly for something that's being billed as a front and center romance. Falling into bed fairly randomly the way they did, their eventual inevitable breakup ("You're not that pretty and you're not that special" / "I'm pretty enough in the dark!"), and then especially the way they fell into bed the second time around. Please excuse me if I don't see that as a love story for the ages.
I still have a hard time reminding myself that GV and MT are the veterans on ER at the moment. Kind of ridiculous.

Nothing could match Carol and Doug. They were the blue bloods of the show. Abby and Luka are the blue collar.

When all is said and done, nothing will be able to top the way they had Carol and Doug reunite. The element of complete surprise is basically unrivaled IMO. Carol and Doug had the same element of "can't not happen" that Mulder and Scully always had. I don't even count Abby and Luka as a romance. But then, ER is essentially dead to me

Ha. After the last night's show, I wouldn't be surprised if the show didn't come back next year. Then it will be dead to everyone.

It's dead. Like, blue dead. Pulse ox is 65.
That's because it's dead.
Right, sorry. I couldn't resist.

Also, ER has had not had a single satisfying exit arc in the past couple of seasons. Romano crushed by a helicopter may be the very worst, though. I have to admit I really only started watching ER about the time Romano got crushed, and I found him to be a total jack ass so that was like the best thing for me to see He was a complete pric (excuse the language) and I was glad to see him go, though his grumpiness at times was rather humorous, he just had a giant bug up his butt that needed removal. We don't have new episodes on here at the moment and I'm tired of waiting because I want to see what happens to Abby with regards her baby and Sam being taken by her ex (though I've read enough to actually know) but that was a really gripping season finale. To me the show is all right, but like with Without a Trace, even though MS aren't together (and I don't ship anyone on ER), I watch it for the procedural drama. Though at the same time, if JS got back together I doubt I'd care enough to watch anymore. But ER seems to be going all right though the personal side is interfering way too much for me.

Ooooh Broni, if you just started watching about then, you realllllly need to go back and watch the early seasons. ER used to be one of the most powerful shows on television.
Romano around the time that he was introduced? Sheer comedic brilliance. He's a complete rat bastard, but he's so hilarious that it doesn't even matter. His character went way downhill around S6-ish. Then again, so did most of the characters.
But seriously, you should see the early seasons. I just watched Be Still My Heart/All In the Family for the millionth time, and I still bawl my eyes out. A lot. And I didn't even LIKE Lucy.

This is just my personal opinion. The early seasons of ER are really good and it really did go down hill around s9 but s12 was a little better and I think s13 is much better!! And yes I'm a Luby fan but thats not all the show has going for it. I think the stories are better than they have been in years and I think that the main charaters are, for the most part, better with better storylines.
And if you hate it so much now guys why are you going on about it? Talk about the older eps by all means, Doug and Carol are great, but quit bashing Luby so much and respect that some of us are enjoying the current season.
Also Broni I do have to agree that you should see the earlier seasons they are very good.

I think you have to be pretty self-centered to think it is a lack of respect to you if we dislike a show and say so. Nobody said anything bad about you personally or any fan so there's no need to act like a victim. What we like or don't like has nothing to do with you.
