Toby is one of my favorite characters, easily.
Yeah, I definitely agree with you about the Jim and Pam stuff. I think one of the best things the show did was not have Jim and Pam immediately get together. My instincts tell me they'll get there eventually, but I'm excited to see how it will unfold. Especially since Pam isn't going to try to get together with Jim.

So, last night's episode was amazing, as usual. But I have to say that my very favorite scene is still the teaser.
Bears, beets, Battlestar Galactica. ROFL.

So, last night's episode was amazing, as usual. But I have to say that my very favorite scene is still the teaser. Bears, beets, Battlestar Galactica. ROFL. OMG. It was hilarious! I agree that the teaser was priceless but the entire eppy rocked. Kelly had me cracking up. "Today is bananas. B-A-N-A-N-A-S." And when Dwight was hairspraying Michael's hair I was laughing my arse off. 1. because it reminded me of the opening sequences of the doc film, "Fahrenheit 911" and 2. I actual said, out loud, "Stop spaying now...Okay, stop spraying now..." I love this show.

Hee, yes! The B-A-N-A-N-A-S thing cracked me up. I finally got around to watching all of S1, which was absolutely brilliant and hilarious as per usual. Also, as a side note, the Office is a great show for drinking games. Edit: If you haven't checked out Scranton Times, I highly recommend it. It's updated every other day, and it's got some really great stuff. The people in the Office fandom universe are pretty amazing.

Last week was okay but not particularly great. It was one of those week's where Michael's uncanny ability to be innapropriate made me feel uncomfortable from outside the television screen, although it did have its moments that were okay.
Tonight's was absolutely priceless, though. I love Toby, so I was glad we got to see him even if it was just watching him looking forlorn in the office all alone. Michael making them do Survivor-like challenges during beach day was priceless, and then letting it slip that he was trying to decide who would replace him.
I loved sing along on the bus (and the way Angela looked like she wanted to die), the Dwight/Angela interaction, Jim and Karen both interviewing for the corporate position (I'd bet that somehow plays into their break up), and Andy floating away.
The end scene though? Guh, I am still in shock. The thing I liked about it was that it seemed so in character for Pam and that she wasn't saying all of that to break Jim and Karen up, just to tell him that she missed him. After all of the crap she had to put up with from Michael that day with him ignoring her and barking out orders, I'm not surprised she got fed up and it all came out. Especially with the adrenaline rush from walking on the coals.
I am so excited for next week. Why can't all shows be this awesome? ;D

Last week's highlight for me was Kevin going into the ladies room. I swear, every time Kevin smiles it cracks me up. His devilish grin is infectious. Does anyone read the comic strip "Dilbert"? You know the pointy haired boss? I think he and Kevin look alike. But tonight's eppy was classic! OMG, I was busting a gut when Andy, still dressed in his inflatable sumo wrestling costume, rolled into the river and floated away. I'm still chuckling just thinking about it. Seriously. Just picturing him drifting in the background behind Michael gave me tears in my eyes. So funny. I also loved Jim giving Karen bad directions during the egg challenge. It was very Jim. And Pam! Wow. I agree with Spyglass, it was so good because it was in character but a true reflection of her trying to be daring and bold. First the coals and then the big proclamation in front of the circle. Wow. I loved Jim's stunned expression. I so can't wait until next weeks finale. My only complaint was that while I love seeing super sized episodes it conflicted with my CSI time. But I stuck with The Office. Even the allure of Lady Heather couldn't pull me away from some quality JAM moments. Beyond the four I've already mentioned (Andy, Jim, Pam, and Karen) I can actually give an example of how each character in The Office gave me a little thrill: Dwight: Shouting orders at Ryan. Angela: Ignoring Andy's pleas for help by pretending she couldn't hear what he was saying. Michael: His Jeff Probst wannabe portrayal. Ryan: Getting mad at Dwight for not being a good leader. Kelly: Taking off her blindfold because she was afraid she would hit the rock that was far away. Toby: Wearing his beach clothes & looking sad at the office all by himself. Oscar: Dealing with Michael's inappropriate jokes about speedos and leather pants. Stanley: Deciding to do the challenges so he wouldn't have to work for anyone else. Creed: Catching and eating the fish. Oh, how I have grown to love that weirdo. Meredith: Showing us her bathing suit underneath her shirt. Not. Phyllis: Is there mustard? Kevin: Leading the sing along in the bus with one of my fave road songs, "The Gambler." ;D This is why I love this show. Every character is fun and interesting no matter how brief they are on screen. This is what it means to have an ensemble show.

Thursday's episode was so good that I decided to fork over the $1.99 to download it off of iTunes so that I can watch it again. I had actually forgotten about Creed and the fish because the end of the episode. It was such a great cast episode, like you said - everyone had something funny going on! I lived in fear of terrible, cliche post-ep fic, but a friend recced a really good one. It pulls at the heartstrings (a lot), but it's really honest and extremely well-written.

That pretty much sums it up. I haven't enjoyed an hour of television that much in a looooong time.
Well, okay, it would have been better if there had been Toby. But still, I think the Stanley nickels makes up for that. Also, the Jim/Pam. ;D

Well, okay, it would have been better if there had been Toby. LOL. Too true. Did you catch when during Jim's interview David started talking about how he has "this very irritating HR guy here, he's probably the only person you not gonna like. Kendall, blegh." It totally cracked me up that they created this parallel in the other office. Those poor HR saps don't get any love. ;D I can't wait to see how next season plays out with Ryan in Jan's old position and her hanging out "in stretch pants waiting for Michael to come home." Loves it. Best bit of JAM: "Pam? Are you free for dinner tonight?" "Yes."

Ahhhh! I just rewatched. Still pretty much my favorite hour of television all year. I am so looking forward to next season. I was getting some "maybe Jan is pregnant" vibes, with the crazy behavior and the stretch pants comment. At first I absolutely hated the idea and hoped that I was just being overly paranoid, but I'm actually coming around to it if they choose to go that way (again, still thinking this is just me being crazy - not an unusual thing for me to be). I wonder if Karen will still be around next season. It could be an interesting way to keep an element of drama present... We shall see. I don't really care at this point. I am on a major Jim and Pam high. ;D I feel so bad for the HR guys. I can't watch Conflict Resolution because it makes me want to cry for Toby, who is definitely one of my favorite characters. Maybe Toby was off on a beach vacation because he wasn't allowed to go on the trip with the rest of the office?

Okay, this thread needs a bump.
Who's going to Chili's tonight to celebrate. THAT'S RIGHT. I AM. (Excuse me while I go dork out.)

Yeah, I know. I am special. I'm also not the only person I know who's going to Chili's tonight to celebrate (which is hilarious, if I do say so myself!)
;D ;D ;D

I really, really enjoyed tonight's episode. -No Pam except for the phone call in the beginning, but that was totally worth it. Then Michael bowled Jim over, and the "sorry" from the phone -- that was perfect, and it made up for the lack of Pam for the rest of the episode. -I can't believe I am actively shipping Michael with someone, but I find myself rooting for him and Holly. The entire time I am shouting "No, no! Michael, stop screwing it up!" -Jim and Dwight. TOO FUNNY. Timing Dwight's "breaks" all day long. -HOLLY. Oh, how much did I want to hug her. Her talking head about middle school. I don't know ANYONE who didn't hate middle school -- and I for one agree that I hope NEVER to relive those years of my life. -I'm not sure I wanted to know that Dwight's booty call was 19 minutes??
