Thanks for the articles. I have read them before too, but, it is always nice to look back occasionally.
As far as not seeing or hearing about Martin going into rehab, well, he was only on pain killers and for a relatively short time (not years like most addicts), as well as that, we don't find out to often how long has past between episodes. So perhaps if he did go to rehab it was between those episodes that where weeks apart. To be fair WAT is not the only show that does this it happens on all series.
I hope we aren't going back to picking apart the show over some small details that can be left to the imagination.

MSN is doing their 2008 FALL TV Guide and this is what they have to say about WAT: 2008 Fall TV: Returning Favorites Sept. 23: "Without a Trace" (10 p.m., CBS) Steven Weber guest stars in a four-episode arc as the head of the Missing Persons Squad, while Jack adjusts to life with a new boss after being demoted at the end of last season. There is a two-page excerpt on an upcoming TV Guide for WAT. There is a cute pic of ALP and SW joking around as well as a pic of Sam solo, Martin solo, and ALP, SW, and RS. I don't consider anything in them to be spoilery but it's your call. The only place I know to view them is on a website called SpoilerTV. I put the link below directly to the scans so you should be fine if you don't want to be spoiled. SpoilerTV TV Guide Scans

I don't know if I should place this article here or maybe in the spoiler section...but since it is about the show I thought I would let you all know here. In the upcoming TV Guide(Nov. 3-9th) there is an article about a "Sneek on Sweeps" coming up in November. This is what it says...."The plot goes topical on Nov. 11th, when a bank manager who forecloses on homes disappears. The following week, an emergency room physician goes missing in the middle of her shift. But the biggest teaser comes in the Nov. 25th cliff-hanger, when Jack and Samantha find themselves together, not just investigating a case, but revisiting the dynamics of their complicated relationship....(ugh)!!! "It's a really interesting story,"says exec producer Jan Nash, "and it ends in a very provocative way." (There is a small pic of Sam and Jack looks like sitting on a bench about to kiss) Sorry you all....but I guess it will be coming soon.....ugh, ugh, ugh!! I just wonder now when Martin will have his new love!! No mention about that at all.

Here is a part of an interrview in the NY Times from the first or second season. Mr. Redlich (one of the producers):
But fans like Mr. Redlich's mother, who recently cautioned him not to ''ruin the show with sex,'' can relax: when push comes to shove, cases will trump relationships every time. Mr. Redlich said he would love to create a scene with Anthony at home having a fight with his wife or his girlfriend before pointing out the series' built-in deterrent: ''We know that as he's having that fight or as he's sleeping with his girlfriend, it will say underneath, 'Missing: 3.6 hours' and the audience is going to say, 'Please finish up whatever you're doing under the covers so we can find the missing person.'''

Thanks Sharon, this is my feelings exactly. I mainly watch WAT for EC, the MP stories and I love they way the cases are solved. I did enjoy the whole M/S relationship, while it lasted, obviously, but, now I am happy to live without it.
What Mr Redlich said above is exactly why the show was and is, so good. No need for all that relationship stuff, we know that they have personal lives, they don't live at the office all the time.
