The telecast averaged a 1.9 rating among adults 18-49, off four-tenths of a point from 2013. (Viewers were perhaps more interested in news coverage of the demonstrations happening just blocks away over a grand jury's decision not to indict the NYPD officer who killed Eric Garner in a chokehold this past summer.) The network, which also aired a Saturday Night Live Christmas special to the tune of a 1.9 adults rating, tied CBS for the night with a shared win in the key demo. CBS' line-up held steady with recent outings, with Survivor (2.1 adults) holding up with a two-hour episode and Stalker (1.5 adults) airing at 10 p.m. ABC's Wednesday block took a considerable hit against the evening's competition. The Middle (1.6 adults) dropped six-tenths of a point to a season low, while The Goldbergs (1.7 adults) fell seven-tenths. Modern Family (2.8 adults) fell by nearly a whole point, and Black-ish (2.1 adults) dropped half of a point. Nashville (1.3 adults) was only off by two-tenths.The last scheduled Red Band Society (0.9 adults) improved two-tenths of a point before a steady Hell's Kitchen (1.2 adults) on Fox. And the CW continued to reap the benefits of its Arrow-Flash crossover. Arrow hit a series high among adults 18-49, jumping half of a point to a 1.4 rating in the demo.
