I do have an account (which anyone can create .. it's free) but I couldn't play the video. I clicked on the little camera and all that did was make the picture larger. I didn't see anything to press to play the video.

I didn't see anything to press to play the video. I created an account but it still wouldn't let me open anything and then I noticed to view video you have to pay $10.00 per month. I would like to see the interview because it says he talks about his fans and I just thought that he might be talking about our wonderful Mimi. Maybe someone else has a paid account.

Damned...I have to see this video ! I'll ask some people around me...
Otherwise, I have a lot to do with my report so Iretos nicely proposed to translate the Nice Matin's article. Thanks to her.
Here the article
The readers of Nice-Matin found Eric Close.
The American star of « Without a Trace » was by our newspaper in Nice to meet five of our readers. Classy, sober, efficient.
Eric Close is 43. The ideal age to charme women. Agent Martin Fitzgerald sweat it out. Among photos, autographs and various questions, it was easy for him to satisfy his audience. The perfect smile, the smiling eyes, the American actor made five privileged people happy. No need to go and look for him, Eric Close appeared today at “Une” of our newspaper. We had warned you, the man has class.
How did you manage your professional and your private life?
I try to have a certain balance among my family, my work and sport, in order to keep my mind clear. Doing this allows me to enjoy every moment.
Can you talk about your new series “Chaos” (the pilot has been shot by Brett Ratner)?
It’s a series ordered by CBS for 13 episodes. Up to now, only the pilot exists and they’re negotiating to find a place to program it. This time I’m a CIA agent.
Do you think to go back to theatre?
I’ve always loved theatre, but considering my time, it’s difficult for me to do it again. But it’s a medium term project. I’m thinking to it for the future.
Are there any French actors with whom you’d like to work?
(Without hesitation) Gérard Depardieu. He has an astonishing charisma. I’d like to work with Sophie Marceau too.
Do you often come to France?
Yes. Every time I can. I want to come back to Paris very soon with my daughters. They have the right age to understand the beauty of the town, its museums and its history.
You directed some episodes of “Without a Trace”, is this a new trend for you?
I always love acting, but it’s true that lately directing gives me a great pleasure. I hope to be able to make a further step and direct a movie.
Where do you live?
I live in Los Angeles and in Oregon (North-Western part of USA). California for work and Oregon for my family life. It’s better for kids, you can also hitchhiking, for example.
Did being famous allow you to refuse some roles?
It’s always a challenge because it’s necessary to choose something new. It’s always hard to refuse a role because I think back to my debuts and it sounds strange to me to say “no”. But you have to be determined and not to cheat with roles. You have to like what you do.
Your debuts have been difficult?
I was naive. I knew that what I was going to do was difficult, but I had a goal and I didn’t want to miss it. At the beginning, I wanted to appear everywhere, therefore I accepted everything. I had to be in no matter what.
Like a bit-player in Mac Gyver, for example?
(Laughs) Yes, I was a security guard. I had no agent at that time, I sent my CV to every show of the American networks. Then a door opened .... But I still have the impression to be a beginner.
Were you afraid never to find the good role at your debuts?
Not really. You must be patient. I didn’t have very long periods of doubt. And then when I see that George Clooney had to wait for 12 different tv series before arriving to “ER” ......
At what age did you start?
Very early, 10/11. I did theatre in school. Then I left for five years before taking it back at the university (Eric Close has a degree in communications), where I took part to some classes that were compulsory for my degree. And there they asked me why I didn’t think to make it my work, because I had talent. That’s it.
Did you think to a different work, far from the show-business world?
I’d love to make a philanthropic work, helping others, like teaching for example. I adore travelling. Therefore I’d like to do something combining both. If I could go back, I’d study medicine. But now it’s too late, unless I start practising at 80 (laughs).
Is it possible to realize a series without a large budget?
Of course. Particularly now, with the digital systems. In the USA, young people with a camera and scripts written at home put their works on the net. It’s a very easy way to make the producers notice you.
Do you give importance to reviews from foreign countries about the show ?
That's why I'm here! It's very important. Last year, I was already at the Montecarlo Festival and I received a gift from a fan, a tee-shirt and a soap. I saw her again this year and she gave me a pic of my wife and me, thanking me to stop by her last year. It's very comforting.
Which is your relationship with religion?
I’m a christian. My faith is very important in my life. It’s like being guided. I use it in my relationships with other people. I try to behave with the others the way I’d like people to behave with me. Inevitably, this has an influence on my professional choices. I have to use this gift. It’s a responsibility. Consequently there are some issues with which I’m not at ease. It’s difficult for me to deal with “gratuitous” acts like violence.

Iretos,
Thank you so much for translating the interview! I always love hearing what he has to say.
The introduction to the article is correct - the man has a lot of class!

He loves to travel, teach and would have loved to have done medicine... is there a clone of Eric Close out there? Even if he's the Evil Eric and is involved in drugs or whatever, I don't care, I'll take him! He sounds almost too good to be true. He sounds very grounded too, and I love that he considers his family with everything. Thanks for translating that Iretos! What a fascinating read

I found another video of Eric. He's at the beginning and then at 1:52 with his wife (so cute) and then again at 2:38 signing autographs but it cuts off. I looked for Mimi but I didn't see her. Hope you enjoy. www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvlsOccihVU
