Updated 12.10.10 with Title Change
Setting: DC BAR Rick is sitting at the bar with AMANDA KEENER who is a feisty, wise CIA Supervisor. She tells him that they are in the bar because she needs to know that he "possesses the one skill vital to spy work: charm." She explains that being a CIA agent isn't always physical skill but rather charming secrets from enemies in foreign countries. She orders him to get the phone number of any woman in the bar. He jokes that he appreciates her faith and he starts to go off when she asks him how he will spin his lies. He retorts that he can weave a story to suit his needs, he's not that new. She challenges him to tell her a lie and when he does, she laughs, saying he's as 'clumsy as [she] feared.' She then tells him three things and he has to spot which one is true. When she's done, he makes his pick only to find out that all three are lies. She's just that good and he needs to know his target. If he had asked anyone in the Agency about her, he would know she can't be trusted. She tells him to go off and when he tries, she stops him again and says that he didn't ask what his cover story is. After sizing him up, she gives him the funniest cover story and then tells him to go "knock 'em dead." Rick chats up Adele. She jokes that she had no idea he was looking for real love - mocking his mission to be part of a tour group that is looking for Russian brides. RUSSIA: Not sure what the set-up situation is or what's going on here exactly yet: Rick and Casey are part of tour group of single guys in Russia to find brides to take home to the US. Their tour group leader is way over-enthusiastic, he's trying to hard to make a match.
Meanwhile, Michael and Billy are pretending to be Scottish wind farmers as their cover to purchase a nuclear weapon from a defunct scientist. Billy rolls his eyes at Michael's horrible Scottish accent. It's under the guise of an energy convention. While there they eye a bunch of other spies from various other countries and joke that it's actually a spy convention - guessing that word is out on the sale.During the match-ups portion of the Russian bride matches, Casey takes the initiative when no one else is making a move and walks up to a woman and asks if she speaks English. When she says yes, he goes to another woman and asks the same question but this one says no. So he picks her and walks off, smirking. Meanwhile, the Match Maker is getting frustrated that no one else is pairing up (I guess she gets paid when men find their brides) so she grabs Rick and pairs him with a sweet looking gal named Irina. She jokes with Rick and it endears her to him. He asks why she would do this and she tells him it's a way into America. Meanwhile, Casey and Michael are mingling at the social when Michael spots a guy named Viktor who is the guy trying to sell the nuclear weapon. They make the deal. Rick and Irina are making small talk but he's distracted. She asks if he's eying anyone else when he excuses himself to go talk to Casey - who is enjoying his drink and not making small talk with the girl who doesn't speak English. Irinia's hurt but Rick doesn't notice. He asks why they are stuck on the sidelines and Casey assures him they just have to play their cover and wait. Irina comes up and asks if he doesn't like her. Rick stammers he does when Casey interjects that Rick came over to tell him how hot Irina is and pushes them together and sends them on their way to "play out their chemistry." Michael and Billy are at a bar talking to the French Op, Jean Pierre. They talk about how Viktor is selling a weapon just cuz he needs some cash. It seems that both the US and the French are trying to make the deal. Jean Pierre tells them he beat them to the punch and Michael is shocked that Viktor also arranged a buy. Michael thinks JP is bluffing but JP assures him he isn't. Besides, as long as it's off the streets who cares which govt. gets it? Michael counters in that case, let him get it. But no luck. Jean Pierre heads upstairs to make the deal, leaving behind Michael who is frustrated that they got trumped. Michael and Billy leave the conference stymied that they got beat out by the French and the guy was making more than one deal. Billy jokes, "If you can't trust an unemployed nuclear scientist desperate for money..." when when a thought occurs to Michael that somethings amiss with this whole situation so they turn and head back inside. He rushes to the elevator with a perplexed Billy hot on his heels but when the elevator doesn't immediately arrive, he heads to the stairwell. Michael jokes that now Billy has the bad accent trying to pretend to be Serbian. MISSING STUFF Rick is in a hotel room with Irina asking how she got in and she tells him the tour operator gave her the key. Casey leaves. She makes a move on him and he decides, "Well, it is his job to stay undercover..." so they make out and move onto the bed. She pauses and asks him if he'll take her to America. It's clear she's desperate and he deflects. She tells him that she has dreams but they can't happen where she's from. Eventually, he convinces her to just go back to the party. MISSING STUFF Casey and Rick are arrested - something about them getting attacked. Casey goes to pay his fine while watching as Constable Sokolov interrogates Rick. It's clear that Sokolov is rather inept and just relishing the chance to play superior to an American. He tries to trick up Rick by asking details about his passport and history. Thankfully, Rick knows his cover backward and forward so it's not a problem. Sokolov places a call to Rick's undercover place of work, an Insurance company in Kansas. Rick's not worried, standard protocol. However, a teen answers "Pizza Palace." Our boys try to appear calm but it's clear they are alarmed that the CIA didn't secure that phone number. Sokolov tells Casey he can go but Rick needs to stay. Casey gets upset and asks if this is a shakedown for money, questioning why they are harassing the guys who attacked them, he's going to the consulate.... Sokolov tells him to go. Not having another option at the moment, he goes but says he'll be back. MISSING STUFF Rick has been at the station awhile and it's clear he has told his cover story many times to Sokolov who isn't buying it. Finally, Rick changes up and says that he doesn't work at the insurance company anymore. He got fired. He explains he knew he couldn't convince a bride to marry him knowing he lives his mother's basement and plays video games all day. Sokolov says Rick is a good liar but has a quality that doesn't jive with the lie. Sokolov says he needs to start telling the truth or he will contact Russian Intelligence (GRU) who are suspicious of Americans with bad phone numbers. Rick jokes if Sokolov thinks he's a spy or something? Sokolov says he does not care for the GRU but they are concerned with spies and he is just a policeman who wants the truth. Suddenly, Casey storms in with the Tour Operator - END PAGE

[glow=red,2,300]Updated 12.20.10[/glow] *Now this is me guessing, but I think that the role of Adele is a renamed version of the character I wrote about in 1x1: Core Fortitude who was named Amanda Keener. Again, me guessing. Sigh. I wish we'd get more press stuff happening to clear up these questions. Anyhoo, here we go: MISSING STUFF PLACE: Goethe Institute Michael and Billy are at a party and order drinks when a man gives them a pompous look and berates their drink choices. They try and ignore him but he announces that his film, "American Steamroller" is entered in the festival. Michael makes a polite comment and tries to walk away but Lars asks who they are and Billy lies and says they're investors. Michael is perturbed cuz now they are gonna have this guy hanging all over them and of course, Lars suddenly perks up wanting to chat with them. MISSING STUFF Rick is trying to talk down LEE QUAN SONG from a ledge of the roof. He is panicky because suicide prevention isn't his thing, he tries telling him that he's there because he's with the CIA and they are trying to help him. Song argues that he cannot defect because his wife, Mi Sang, will be killed. Song got a call from his brother-in-law who is a General in North Korea and even though he once promised to always keep Mi-Sang safe, if Song defects, he will kill her personally. Rick is surprised to learn of a wife. Song argues that if he kills himself, it's more honorable that being executed back home. Rick blurts out that the CIA will get his wife out of the country. PLACE: CIA HQ - Office of Propaganda The team is there to convince Burt Hecker, Director of Propaganda, to finance a film by Lars Fagerholm called "American Steamrollers." Michael explains that if they are listed as the producers of the film they will be invited to the North Korean Film Festival. Hecker argues that his job is to fund movies that elevate the US, not tear it down. Rick argues that getting an ambassador from NK to defect is great PR. Hecker considers this but says he has to decline as they've funded some duds and are in the red. Billy says something that sways Hecker and just like that, our team are film producers. PLACE: HOTEL BANQUET ROOM It's a film festival with lots of Kim Jong-Il parphrenalia everywhere. There are hundreds of chairs but only maybe 30 attendees (this is North Korea you know) so it's a rather glum place. Michael, Billy, Casey and Rick enter to find Mi-Sang in her hospitality outfit chatting with some foreign filmmakers and some NK's. They guys join the table with Billy breaking the ice by announcing that they are the producers of the film, "American Steamroller" thinking the title alone shows their communist loyalties. The NK's just stare, not trusting him one bit. Michael just smiles and reads Mi-Sangs nametag saying it's a nice name. He and Rick are friendly and chat her up. She says that the American leaders tell them lies to make them hate NK. Michael decides to try another tactic and says they need to talk about things they unite them, not separate them. He comments on her wedding ring and asks if she has kids. She says no but Michael comments he does and shows her a video of his kids but it's really video of her husband napping outside the U.N. She reacts so Billy creates a distraction so she can continue talking to Michael. They tell her about the plan to get her out of NK so she pretends to give them a tour of the hotel so they can speak more privately. As they get their fake tour, she asks why she should trust them and Rick replies that her husband trusted them with her life and that means something. She asks what the plan is and Michael explains that they have a fake passport for her and she'll join them on their flight. She just has to meet them at the end of the film festival. She nods and when someone nears, she returns to her fake tour. PLACE: CIA HQ Adele is working at her desk when Congressman Fuller enters. It's clear they are old friends and there some sexual undertones as well. He asks if she heard about the NK Diplomat who took a nap at the UN and she quips that it's gone viral on YouTube. He comments in that NK they shoot people for less and she replies she is aware. He suggests that they can get Song to defect and she delicately replies that she's fully aware and that the CIA is on it. He's disappointed and she explains that she can't share more details. She knows he wants a coveted seat on the Intelligence Committee but can do it by being a good Congressman, not a spy. He jokes it's a good line and if he can use it. MISSING STUFF PLACE: VAN driving down a North Korean Highway It seems the plan to leave the country has changed and they are fleeing in a van instead of a flight. Lars is shouting at our team, calling them stuff like "CIA henchmen, Imperialist goon" and the such as he's angry that they used his film as a way to get access to Mi Sang. Casey politely tells Lars he can either make the trip awake or not, it's his choice so Lars pouts bu shuts up. Michael says they need to contact CIA HQ to let them know what's going on and Rick volunteers to make the call as he's part of the reason they are in this mess. (No idea what happened) PLACE: CIA HQ Higgins is looking over satellite photos when Adele comes in with Song who is upset, arguing that taking Mi Sang over the border is too dangerous. Higgins tries to explain the logistics but Song keeps arguing until Higgins has to confess that the North Korean government already know that he is defecting - they have no choice. Song tries to backtrack, saying he'll turn himself in and will not defect. MISSING STUFF PLACE: Washington Bar - Night Adele is sitting at a table nursing a water when Fuller comes in commenting they have a lot to celebrate. Adele dryly replies, "Such as?" and he explains the defection and he got a call a call that the seat on the Intelligence Committee is his. Adele says that's because he leaked a story to the press that the defection was his idea. And by doing so, he put people's lives at risk - people she cares about. He argues that he didn't know there was a on-going mission in NK because she wouldn't share the details. She replies that it's her job not to. He counters that they're friends but she says not anymore. He tells her that everything turned out alright but she says not for him, someone leaked a story to the press that he lied about his involvement and almost got four American operatives killed. He's flabbergasted and she tells him to enjoy his one term in Congress and leaves.
