Any fans of "The Closer" out there? If you are a fan, what do you like about it? The fun team banter? The compelling cases? Brenda's fiery wit and southern charm? Brenda's addiction to sweets? Fritz and Brenda's relationship? The confession scenes? If you don't watch, why??? It's only the best show this summer. It's on TNT and is sooo good. Fritz and Brenda are what I always wished Martin and Sam could have been. Check it out. It's on Monday nights on TNT or you can watch the latest eppy's online Here

I love Fritz and Brenda. I also love how smart Brenda is. I can't stand the office politics and Pope, I'm sorry, is a big turd sometimes.

I've caught bits and pieces and I've really liked what I've seen. I'm still catching up on regular season TV, though, so it may be a little while before I get a chance to catch up.

Hehehe Pope sure can be a turd, but I always see him not only as Pope, but the man whose son got sent to death row supposedly wrongly in 'Two Families' (season 2 of WaT for all you followers out there ). I LOVE this show! I don't know why we don't have new episodes and pray they aren't thinking of cancelling it. Kyra is absolutely adorable, I don't think they could have picked anyone else for the role of Brenda, she just does it so well! It's an awesome show. I love the thought of a woman in charge dealing with an unruly squad and having to break them down slowly, one by one Absolutely brilliant! Oh and Fritz is a champion for keeping up with her, hands down!

This week's Closer was fabulous!
I was talking to a friend about this, and we've decided that Brenda kind of reminds us of House as far as using instincts to solve cases. Also, Kyra is absolutely adorable. She plays that role SO well.

I actually see Brenda as an accidental thinker. She'll hear something or see something and a light goes off in her head. She follows through on that thought and the conclusion she comes to seems so obvious once the rest of us are let in on it.

I also think she and House are quite similar in how they make connections through other things going on. House does it quite a bit in relation to his "clinical duty" clientele and Brenda usually has Fritz as her "muse." ;D I often thought the same thing so it's nice to see Spyglass and I think alike in other ways beyond WAT. I am having so much fun watching this season. Brenda and Fritz are moving forward and buying a house. Which pleases me to no end since they remind me of what I thought Sam and Martin could have been. Plus, they are exploring more of Gabriel's personality and it's not all goody-goody but really compelling stuff. The eppy with the pedophile was stellar. Whoa. And I just adore the rest of the entire cast. It's a rare thing for me these days to find a show that even when the main star isn't on screen I am still happy to watch what the others are doing. Provenza and Flynn always crack me up, I love hearing Tao explain things, Daniels is a nice feminine balance to Brenda, Sanchez adds a tough but human element and even when Pope is being a turd I don't mind - too much. Just one of my faves.

I'll have to take your word on it, I don't watch House. In fact, I hate that show, lol, but I love The Closer.

Heh, that scene between Brenda and Fritz in the house actually made me think of Danny and Martin in the first scene of Lone Star and "I see you and Sam in a place just like this." I thought I was crazy, but there you go

This was posted by SmartyBear2 and reposted here by Jennifoofighter: i recently discovered the TV series "The Closer" starring Kyra Sedgwick as a CIA-trained interrogator heading the Priority Homicide Squad thanks to this girl-power book i read. i love this show, and i must say Brenda Leigh Johnson kicks serious ass. ;D one of the great things about her character is her contrasts - she's honey and steel in one package. The ensemble cast is great too, and the show is a perked up nicely by liberal dashes of humor. i went through seasons one and two in one weekend. has anyone else here seen this really great show? as an additional question to those who watch "The Closer" and Wat -- hypothetically, if you were to pay good money to see season 5 of Wat vs. Season 3 of "the closer," number of episodes notwithstanding, which would you line up for? Given all the negative reviews i've heard of WAT i can't help but be hesitant about picking this show when seasons 1 and 2 of "The Closer" are so promising, that i'm thinking season might be too as well. opinions?

Hands down: THE CLOSER. It was rich in storylines both casefile and personal. This is a show that isn't afraid to love their supporting characters as much as the leads and that alone makes it worth watching. I loved it. ;D

This is a show that isn't afraid to love their supporting characters as much as the leads and that alone makes it worth watching. I loved it. ;D Thanks for the advice, Jenn! will take that into consideration if i ever get to stumble upon either series somewhere in the future. I guess it's a bit easier to keep the show fresh when you only have 13 to 15 episodes a season -- or maybe it's the way the series' writers have kept brenda as the focal point of the series while still giving screen time to the other people of the cast. i've gotten my entire batch hooked on this series as well, and hands down, provenza is our favorite secondary character. we all spent a bit of time trying to figure out where we'd seen him before -- before someone finally remembered he had played that ass Captain Harris on Police Academy a long, long time ago. they should find an opportunity for him to say his signature line, "Move it, move it!" some episode in the future. i think one reason the show keeps on track is because the personal storyline mainly focuses on brenda and doesn't try to throw any more than hints of what the others' personal lives are like. maybe it keeps everyone else 2-dimensional, but at least the writers haven't resorted to throwing out personal storyline "promises" that they cannot keep. plus, we actually get to see the characters change and grow here, and i love the way they've shown how the squad gradually gelled and took to brenda as their boss after initial resistance to the idea. if only they had thought to apply the same principles above on WaT! you'd think that since their team has been together 6 years, the writers would have thought to include more scenes of them brainstorming and playing off each other and anticipating one another's moods. Instead everyone seems to be more distant than ever to each other. okay, okay... enough about being bitter. and fritz? my friends and i concur... the man is a saint. he doesn't exist. that is why they call it tv. if someone like him were alive in real life, he wouldn't run out of stalkers and fans screaming at him, "PICK ME!!!" instead. ;D hey, look, there's a happy, healthy, relatively uncomplicated couple on TV -- and guess what? people actually like watching the show anyway! it wasn't the death knell everyone thought it would be! *sigh* why can't TPTB at WaT realize this and make some much needed changes?! erm... and here i thought i was done being bitter...

I don't want to spoil but when you get a chance to finally see Season 3 you will see a new side of Fritz that delves more into his past. It allows us to see him more fully. Plus, this last season has a lot more B/F interaction. Great stuff.

I totally love this show too!! This show is what keeps my summer on track...hardly anything else on the tube to watch!! I was watching the WAT episode "Bait" again the other day and I noticed that Fritz was the actor that played the father/husband of the missing family. (Owned the boat....his family was kidnaped at sea) He was great in that episode too!! I heard that they are going to bring The Closer back around Christmas with 2 new episodes before it comes back next spring/summer sometime? Did anyone else hear this....or was I just dreaming? ?
