I heard that they are going to bring The Closer back around Christmas with 2 new episodes before it comes back next spring/summer sometime? Did anyone else hear this....or was I just dreaming? ? Yup it's true. It's titled "Next of Kin" and should be airing around Dec. 3rd or so. It's like getting a Christmas present early!

I totally love this show too!! This show is what keeps my summer on track...hardly anything else on the tube to watch!! I was watching the WAT episode "Bait" again the other day and I noticed that Fritz was the actor that played the father/husband of the missing family. (Owned the boat....his family was kidnaped at sea) He was great in that episode too!! Hahaha... it would be so easy to pull one over me as I didn't recognize him from that episode. neither did i recognize the actor who plays Will the episode Two Families. ;D

I finally finished my marathon of Season 3 of "The Closer." I just have to say I am soooo loving this show. It's sharp and funny and I really like their take on the characters and the whole team dynamic. I really wish WaT could have evolved in this direction -- considering that the team has been together going on 6 years, you'd think the interaction would have become more and more personal rather than what it's become today. Would it really be so damaging to casualk viewers if the writers took the need of long-time viewers into account and got their back stories straight and kept a better grasp on the underlying personal storylines?! please let me know when the bonus two-part episode comes out in december so i can go get a copy!

Did they ever get to show the 2-parter last December? Can someone give me a run-down? With the strike and all, I wasn't sure if they would have pushed through with showing it.

Did they ever get to show the 2-parter last December? Can someone give me a run-down? With the strike and all, I wasn't sure if they would have pushed through with showing it. Yes they did and it was really good. Over HERE we had some post-ep chit chat if you're interested. The rundown: It's a Christmas centric eppy: Brenda and Fritz get an offer on their house. The potential buyers offer them $20K above the asking price with the stipulation that the sale includes Fritz's baseball pyramid. When Brenda balks that she couldn't ask him to part with it, he jokes, "For twenty grand extra I'd part with you." To which she flatly replies, "Ha. Ha." and that she will think about it. The murder case ends up conflicting with Robbery/Homicide. They had been tracking some bank robberies for 11 months and this time the bank robbers ended up killing two out of three Armored Truck guards. During the investigation they learn that the guard who wasn't killed had a criminal record. When they try to locate him at the hospital they learn he left early. So they stake out his apartment and when they try to raid it, a man ducks out the window and runs but they are able to catch him only to learn that it is his 15-year old brother, Grady. He is a really good natured nice kid from Atlanta, Georiga. An angle that Brenda plays up, getting him to accidentally reveal that his brother, Wesley, was mixed up with some shady guys and went home to Georgia. So, Brenda tells Fritz she will sell the house if he agrees to go home to Atlanta to visit her parents, Clay and Willie Ray, for Christmas (which is like four days away). He agrees. Brenda and Fritz arrive back home to Atlanta where her mom has the house decorated for Christmas in a way you cannot imagine. It's Christmas everywhere! As soon as they get there she finds out that Wes is a recovering alcoholic and drug addict. He was arrested on an old charge and is being held at the local jail. So she tells her folks that she and Fritz have to go to the mall and need to borrow her daddy's car. They get to the jail but she doesn't have any warrants to justifiably talk to Wes. So she tells Fritz to keep his yankee accent to himself, she is going to use good old southern charm to get access to her suspect. But when she tries, the Sheriff calls her a big fancy police officer from LA and doesn't appreciate her dumbing it down for him. That's when Fritz steps up and mentions he is from the FBI and the Sheriff gets all doe eyed and comments how he did a training up a Quantico and he would love to help out the FBI. ;D Fritz goes to talk to him when another officer comes by and says that Wes is to be released, someone paid his bail. When he gets to the parking lot there's Brenda to arrest him. So she and Fritz are driving him to her parent's house, arguing on how she is already spending that extra $20K they don't have yet (because she paid the bail) when Wes starts throwing a fit and kicks out the window in the back seat. Brenda takes Fritz's belt and ties up Wes, upset that he broke something on her daddy's car. Get home, her parents are not only upset that she brought home a criminal and damaged the car (which she says she will pay for - more money gone) but also that the only reason she came home was to do work and not actually visit them. She feels guilty so she calls up Provenza and Flynn to come down to Atlanta and take Wes back so she can stay and visit. She buys them their business class plane tickets (more money out of pocket). She talks to Wes to try and get him to talk about the robberies but he just keeps asking about his brother. To make matters worse, its Christmas and her parents have hidden all the sweets. Provenza and Flynn arrive late - they traded in their tickets for a later flight so they could get some vouchers for another time which to a couple of cheap skates like them, is just the bees knees. They take Wes to the airport and he has a big fit, yelling about having a bomb, etc. So obviously they can't fly anymore and there are no more rental cars since it is the holidays. They go back to the Johnson home and they all try to come up with a plan when her dad mentions he has an RV but the only ones authorized to drive are him and his wife, Willie Ray. Road Trip! End Part 1

So, imagine an RV crowded with Brenda, Fritz, Willie Ray, Clay, Wes, Provenza and Flynn. Its not exactly everyones idea of a dreamy Christmas. There is so much funny little details in it that its hard to describe. Willie Ray wearing those silly sunglasses that you wear over your regular glasses as she steers the behemoth RV and sings Christmas carols. Clay getting grumpy because he can't find his Perry Como Christmas CDs which Brenda hid in her purse. She almost gives them to him but Fritz gives her a look, "Don't you dare" so she puts them back. A grumpy prisoner in the bedroom being guarded by Provenza...its just great.
In the meantime we have the rest of the team, Gabriels, Tao, and Sanchez working the case while keeping Pope at bay and trying to stall Robbery/Homicide from interfering. Even though we don't see them very much at this point they still all work really well and are fun to watch. They try and get Grady to help them identify the other robbers but he doesn't know much. He's a really sweet kid. They also do everything they can to keep social services from taking the kid all while making fake crime scene photos of Grady's "murder." Gabriels and Sanchez keep Grady at Brenda's house.
Anyhoo, Wes keeps demanding to talk to his brother but Brenda keeps hedging, saying thats just not possible. Wes tells them he has to use the restroom so he gets into the small stall. Then they see water coming out from under the door - Wes is trying to escape out the small window. Willie Ray starts to pull the RV over at a rest stop while they try to get the door open but Clay doesn't want it damaged so he makes them wait until he gets the key and yells that Wes better not be destroying his RV. Pull over, Fritz jumps out the door of the RV in time to tackle Wes as he drops out the window.
They all sit around a picnic area while Clay survey's the damages (which Brenda says she will pay for - more money gone). Wes shouts he wants to talk to his brother before going another step so he gets under the picnic table and holds onto it, refusing to budge. Finally, Brenda lies and tells him he can't talk to his brother, Grady, because Grady was killed by his partners. This devastates him as well as Clay and Willie Ray who don't know that Grady is really alive. Its really poignant how Willie Ray is able to get him to settle down. Meanwhile, Provenza, Flynn and Fritz don't exactly approve of what she did but keep quiet and play along nonetheless.
Wes is upset and refuses to eat, even though Willie Ray keeps prodding him. Finally, Clay (not knowing that Wes has a drinking problem) says that he can maybe help solve both Brenda and Willie Ray's problems. He pours a bourbon and offers it to Wes, who asks to have it mixed with Coke. Clay argues that it is top of the line bourbon but Brenda tells him to just get the guy a Coke. Wes drinks it down and they tell him he can have another if he eats at least half his dinner. He eats some chicken and Willie Ray is all smiles.
Later, we see Fritz staring at the bottle, an unreadable expression on his face. As a recovering alcoholic does he want some or is he mad at Brenda for exploiting Wes' weakness this way? We don't know for sure but he gets up to leave, saying he is taking a walk. (FYI: Provenza and Flynn got to stay at a hotel while the rest of them stay in the RV. More money gone.) Brenda talks to Wes who tells him how he ended up with those guys and she tells him about Grady's tragic death. It is very clear that Wes is angry about them killing his little brother. After getting a lot of information about how they got him a job working for the armor company so he can get inside info on the amounts they are transporting and times of delivery (I can't remember all the dets, sorry) but he is clearly upset that his partners killed the two guards. He never wanted anyone to get hurt. She offers him one more glass but he pushes it away says it won't work anymore. He also tells her she's really lucky to have such great parents. All he had was a bum dad, a dead mom, and a super strict and unloving Grandma.
They get to LA.
Brenda goes to the office and gets caught up on what they know. She shows Wes the fake crime scene photos and he is upset and gives them information on how he can make contact with his partners about their next planned robbery. She agrees to hand over Wes to Robbery/Homicide so they can make the arrests by having Wes go undercover but secretly has Buzz plant a tracking device on Wes. But its only good for 100 yards, its not exact.
She goes home and finds her mom and Gabriels waiting up for her. Her mom is clearly upset at finding out that Grady is really alive. She felt so sorry for Wes and is mad at Brenda for lying. Brenda, feeling frustrated by all of this, shows her mom the crime scene photos and says that she had to lie to get justice for the men who were killed thanks to Wes. Willie Ray is anguished by all of it when Brenda gets a call that Wes slipped away and is now missing. So she goes back to work.
Wes escaped by going into the restroom and dropping his hidden camera and mic. But before he did he left a message for Brenda saying that he knows she made up the story about the murder and showed him the fake photos he knew something was off. His partners wouldn't have to torture his brother to find out his secret hiding spot, they knew where his was and he knew where theirs was. They killed him for no reason.
So she activates the tracking device, which is a shocker to Robbery/Homicide. They argue how dare she and she basically tells them that if they had done their job she wouldn't have needed it so they are lucky she did. They track Wes to a bank but again, its only accurate within a hundred yards. But they see its near a bank so they stake it out. We, the viewers, see Wes hiding under a car with a gun unbeknowst to them.
An armored truck arrives and his two partners rush it with their AK47s when the police surround them, telling them to drop their weapons etc. Suddenly Wes comes out, aiming his gun at his partners. I'm not exactly sure of the sequence but he ends up shooting both his partners. Brenda and the others try to get Wes to drop his gun, she tells him his brother is alive, etc. He moves to drop it when one of the armored guards, fueled by panic and adrenaline, comes out from behind the truck and shoots Wes, killing him.
Cut to Christmas day. Grady is wearing a nice new suit and is all smiles. Willie Ray tells him she will have to get it altered to fit him better while Fritz and Clay watch. Grady looks at all the presents they gave him and says they were way too generous. Fritz jokes that Brenda was just making sure that they spent all of that extra money from the sale of the house. Grady says that he will have to check with Wes to make sure he can keep them and then he asks just how long Wes was going to be working undercover for the police. It seems they didn't tell him that Wes was killed yet, nor that he was in cahoots with the criminals. They tell him they don't know, he can ask Brenda later. They all get ready to go out for Christmas brunch, Grady wonders if his brother will call him but if not, he's just impressed that his brother is doing such important work. Willie Ray decides that they should take the RV just to see if they will valet it. She and Grady head out and Fritz calls back to the bedroom for Brenda to hurry up. Clay tells him that he will get her.
In the back bedroom, Brenda is clearly upset by how the events transpired. Clay is very comforting. She says she isn't sure how she can tell Grady about his brother. (She's planning on doing it the day after Christmas.) Clay tells her she should wait, give him time to have some distance from his brother in the hopes that he gets used to living without him. Then he tells her that he and Willie Ray want to take him back to Atlanta and let him live with them. He's a good Georgia boy and they can give him a good home. Brenda is touched and she tells him that Wes was right, she is lucky to have such great parents.
End Part II

The actors will well begin to turn from April. The season 4 will be marked under the sign of the power. Small interrogation: Jon Tenney signed to turn in a new series, will be always so present in Closer? For the French, attached the address of my site dedicated to Closer: thecloser.xooit.com

Hey,
I just happened to watch last night's repeat of The Closer and they talked about new episodes starting up in January (so excited) but then they showed a super fast teaser clip and I think Brenda was wearing a wedding veil.
Did anybody catch it? Was I imagining the whole thing?

I adore this show! It's just coming back onto our screens down here, been about a year off screen! That's not because of the writer's strike either. The network that airs it down here is just pathetic. They're losing a ratings war with everyone else and making REALLY bad decisions. Why in hell would you put this show on 10.30pm on a Friday night?? STUPIDITY! Up against football and movies? Sorry but it'll lose every time. On the other hand, I have bought the first two seasons on DVD (cheap too!) and plan to have a marathon one of these days. This show is just so smart and always has me in stitches. I don't know how Kyra does it but Brenda is just fabulous. I know she isn't to thank of course, but a lot of credit has to go to her for bringing Brenda to life! And yes, the two main men who have guest starred in two of my favorite WaT eppys certainly doesn't hurt
