AS THE TEAM SEARCHES FOR A RECENT WIDOWER AND HIS TWO TEEN-AGED KIDS, THEY MUST ALSO DETERMINE WHAT TOOK PLACE IN THE FAMILY'S BLOODIED LIVING ROOM, ON "WITHOUT A TRACE," THURSDAY, MAY 4
"Requiem" -- As the team searches for a recent widower and his two teen-aged kids, they attempt to determine who is responsible for the gunfire which left the missing family's living room splattered with blood, on WITHOUT A TRACE, Thursday, May 4 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. John Showalter directed the episode written by Jan Nash, one of the series' executive producers.
The Jordano family was last seen through their partially opened front door by neighbors who report that the visibly nervous Ted declined to let his son, Dylan, join them on their scheduled outing to a baseball game. After learning that Ted, a new gun owner, remains despondent over his wife's death and his mounting debt, the team considers that it may be he who is responsible for the bloodshed and disappearance. Under investigation as well are a loan shark who has been hounding Ted and his daughter's delinquent boyfriend. The potential suspects and scenarios for this case seem endless to the team members who realize that with three missing people there are three times as many reasons for them to have vanished.

Hot new episode tonight! The plot sounds really interesting. I think this is the first time an entire family goes missing. Here's the quick rundown:
"Requiem" The team searches for a recent widower and his two teenagers and tries to figure out who is responsible for a blood-spattered living room.
Cast: Anthony LaPaglia, Poppy Montgomery, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Enrique Murciano, Eric Close, Roselyn Sanchez, Joshua Gomez , Karl Makinen, Tommy Savas, Bret Loehr, Corri English, Zachary Winard , Jenna Gavigan, Mark A. Sheppard, Bonita Friedericy, Ron Perkins, Mark Pellegrino, Peter M. Karlin , Hayden Tank, Adrian Latourelle. Director(s): John Showalter. Producer(s): Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman, Ed Redlich, David Nutter, Hank Steinberg. Writer(s): Jan Nash. Here are a few interesting tidbits I've pieced together because I know some of you are really into connections:
-the director of this eppy, John Showalter, also directed 'The Stranger' and 'Freefall' (both S4), he edited some of the best WAT early eppys such as 'In Extremis' and 'The Bus'. -He also directed an excellent episode of House (for those of you who watch that) which aired a week ago ('House vs God'); which was the one about the 15 year old faith healer.
The writer of this eppy, Jan Nash, is one of the ones taking over for Hank Steinberg. She wrote this season's 'The Stranger' (the one about the church going serial killer) and also some S1 eppys ('Hang on to Me', emmy nominated, and 'Victory for Humanity'). Interestingly enough, she used to write for a commedy show called Caroline in the City, quite a departure from WAT!
Let the comments begin!

I thought tonight's episode was especially well done. Not much M&S, but a good story. Everyone did a good job. I didn't really like Jack at the end. The deserved it, but Jack was way over the line.
Last week someone commented on how Sam gets the teenaged girls, well this week it seems to be Danny and the pre-teen/teenage boys. He seems good with them. Like there is just enough reformed juvenile deliquent under there that he might understand things. Martin is good with them too, but he seems to do better the ones who are "good kids". Probably because we was one.

I thought the actual case/procedure begged far too many questions and had too many holes...
However...
Jack was totally awesome at the end.

I thought this episode was so so. Nothing to special. Sadly enough, some of the best interactions between characters this season have been Jack and Danny. They've had some good and bad times but all good scenes, especially since this season has really lacked team interaction.
Sadly enough...last night was the first WAT episode I didn't tape in almost 2 seasons and I didn't even care. I was out of tape and normally I would've been running to Walmart but it just hasn't been there this season.

I thought this one was much better than last weeks eppy. When I don't have the whole thing figured out in the first 10 min. that means they've got my attention. I like the new Jack. Don't mess with the new Jack. It's like he took off that wedding ring last week and he's a whole new person. He looks good.. he's smiling more and the colors in his ties agree with him. I like the new Jack.

This episode had an interesting ending. I definitely enjoyed watching Jack beat the guy up and then just leave. Hehehe...But unlike some other episodes, it didn't end with a happy ending and at the same time you don't really know what's going to happen. Alot of Martin and Sam working together but no M/S moments. But all the other interactions were pretty good.

well, it gets an A from me for plot, but an F for dialogue. i was a little shocked at how cheesy some of it was. not all, but a few tidbits. overall i really liked it though. and yes, no messing with the new jack!

On the topic of cheesy dialogue, it didn't help that the guest actors couldn't actually act. I'm not sure whether it was the direction or the actors themselves but the whole thing was... I don't even know how to describe it. Strange, and oddly amateurish for a 4th season entry of an established drama..... Even if it was written by Jan Nash.
I personally like open-ended episodes, (although I don't really think this one was one of those). It didn't bother me that I don't know what happened to the family after tired of seeing those actors/characters anyway.
It's sad but I haven't taped an episode of WaT for quite a few months now. It's not worth it. I won't watch any of these eps ever again. They just don't do it for me anymore. *sad sigh*

yeah like the conversation Martin and Samantha were saying in the begining. That was totally cheesy! Found it amusing that Jack said Danny could handle seven guys! ;D Liked the scene where Martin confronts the so-called boyfriend of Nicole and Samantha comes out from the other side with a gun aimed at the guy! As soon as I saw that I thought I like this! Wasn't as funny or intense as others but liked how Jack showed the bad guy, Don't mess with the Jack Malone! ;D Vivian didn't get much scope in this one, which sucks.

I thought the case was interesting. Like SeptemberBaby said- I didn't have it figured out in the first 10 minutes. I also liked the way they ended it with the family in limbo about what to do. Jack was way out of line as an agent but the guy sure deserved what Jack gave him.

I didn't mind the case, it was rather interesting, though I was disappointed when all three of them were found on the side of the road perfectly fine. Doesn't sound right to me, having this mob after them and the father and two kids escaped without getting hurt. I thought something better would have happened. It was interesting enough. I have to agree though that Jack was TOTALLY AWESOME at the end. I just love how he seemed to snap when that guy spat on him and beat the living hell out of him. GO JACK! That's the man we've all missed lately. I thought Anne made him soft, but nope! He still breaks the rules and does what he wants. Good man All in all I thought it was an interesting eppy but nothing to stand out in the season. I can't wait for next week, 'White Balance', though I have to admit that here in Australia, they're f**king things around. Apparently 'White Balance' will be the season finale for us, so we miss out on the real season finale. I'm very disappointed right now that they're doing this to us! Sorry about that, going off topic I know, but I needed to vent
