CHAOS REVISED Press Release: About the Show January 2011 CHAOS CHAOS is a comedic drama about a group of rogue CIA spies in the Clandestine Administration and Oversight Services (CHAOS), who combat threats to national security amidst bureaucratic gridlock, rampant incompetence and political infighting. The team tackles high-risk foreign intelligence missions using manipulation, deception and wit to succeed. Rick Martinez was dismayed when his dream job as a spy was eliminated on his first day; however, CIA Deputy Director H.J. Higgins, a calculating mastermind and the head of CHAOS, recognizes Rick's unique skill set and places him as an unwitting mole inside the department. Martinez joins the team under Michael Dorset, a psychologist-turned-CIA operative and a tactical genius motivated by pure paranoia. Working with Martinez is Scottish-born Billy Collins, de-commissioned from the British Secret Service and deported from the United Kingdom; Casey Malick, a 12-year veteran of the agency with an understated demeanor and the ability to transform into a "human weapon." While Martinez's instincts about who he can trust are constantly tested, he seems to have a worthy confidante in the new Deputy Director, Adele Ferrer, who appears to have his best interest at heart. Or, should he rely on officer Fay Carson, an alluring agent and an expert at deciphering people's "tells"? Attacking each assignment with unparalleled confidence and gusto, these operatives perform covert operations, exert political influence and eradicate all manner of evil - and that's just to survive the morning staff meeting. This show sounds so good! It seems like it could be really smart entertainment and it is just enough quirky different than what is on tv today. I hope it wins rave reviews esp. for EC, who we all know is a really good and versatile actor.

Hiya everyone! Here's some press from the TCA Winter Tour event today. I have to say that I do like the sound of them going for the '4 Musketeer' theme! [glow=red,2,300]2011 TCA Winter Press Tour[/glow]CBS' Upcoming 'Chaos' an Update of 'Four Musketeers'January 14, 11 1:48 PM 1/14/2011 by Lesley Goldberg PASADENA -- The Four Musketeers are alive and well thanks to Tom Spezialy’s new CBS action drama Chaos. The creator/exec producer said the Musketeers films of the 1970s greatly influenced the rookie series starring Freddy Rodriguez, Tim Blake Nelson, Eric Close and James Murray. “I’d always been a big fan of The Four Musketeers and wanted to do an updating of it,” he said Friday during TCA. “I was doing research for another CIA show and reading about the story of an operative. On the cover it said, ‘They spent a lot of money, killed a lot of people and accomplished nothing.’ ” Spezialy noted that he went back and rewatched Richard Lester’s Four Musketeers films from the ’70s to get into the proper “mindset” before writing the pilot for Chaos. “It can be quiet at times or silly at times,” he said, adding that Wes Anderson, Alexander Payne and Mike Nichols also influenced him on the series. Spezialy also noted that the series, which filmed in Vancouver, isn’t a parody of real CIA operatives and will focus more on the action and the team’s ability improvise rather than the heavy technology that’s typically featured on other series. Chaos premieres April 1 on CBS. Source: Hollywood ReporterHere's the USA Today. I love how they point out at Eric in the picture there! LOL! **** Jan 14, 2011 CBS in 'Chaos'01:16 PM By Robert Bianco, USA TODAY Coming Friday, April 1 to CBS: 'Chaos,' a dramedy about rogue CIA operatives in the Clandestine Administration and Oversight Services (CHAOS). The show stars Eric Close (kneeling), James Murray (on desk), Freddy Rodriguez, center, and Tim Blake Nelson. By JASON BELL, CBSCBS is getting chaotic. Arriving on April 1, Chaos is a light adventure hour starring Freddy Rodriguez as a new recruit to an odd-ball CIA sub-group headed up by Eric Close (seen here kneeling). The comic tone may be a good fit for a Friday time slot, but is it a good fit for CBS? "The show is intended to be relentlessly fun," says producer Tom Spezialy. "I would assume if you're tuned into CBS, you're looking for fun, too." Spezialy says he hopes the show is "fun, like The Four Musketeers," but it's not a spoof. The adventures will never get too real-world dark, but he does want viewers to feel like something is at stake in them. One of those adventures required Rodriguez, center, to hold a real scorpion. The stinger was super-glued, so he was in no real danger, but he still didn't like holding on to it. "It started peeing on me, and I didn't know what it was. I thought it was spraying me with some sort of poison." -- Robert Bianco Source: USA TodayAnd I found another article. This one is from TV Guide. **** Today's News: Our Take Chaos' Freddy Rodriguez Caught Between Scorpions and the CIAJan 14, 2011 02:54 PM ET by Hanh Nguyen ChaosA scorpion is just one of the dangers Freddy Rodriguez had to endure for Chaos, the new CBS action comedy set in the world of the CIA. Rodriguez plays newbie CIA agent Rick Martinez, who's assigned to a group of rogue spies in the Clandestine Administration and Oversight Services (CHAOS). In order to prove himself and escape from a sticky situation in the desert, Rick eats a live scorpion, a scene that initially caused Rodriguez to suffer an anxiety attack. "I asked [executive producer] Brett Ratner to hold it," Rodriguez said at the Television Critics Association winter previews Friday. "I would do it if he would hold it for me. It was a real scorpion. I think they put crazy glue on the stinger. "It was scary. At one point, I didn't enjoy the experience. It started peeing on me. I didn't know what it was. I thought it was spraying me with some sort of poison." Scorpions are the least of Rick's worries, however. In addition to the foreign intelligence missions and threats to national security, Rick must also face the deception, double-dealing and in-fighting at the CIA. "He's the new guy. So in the pilot, he experiences what I imagine a lot of new guys experience on the first day on the job," Rodriguez said. "This is the CIA so his experiences are perhaps more heightened than the average person would have starting a new job. Throughout the first season I definitely think he goes through growing pains." Among the CHAOS group members is paranoid psychologist Michael Dorset (Eric Close), the Scottish-born Billy Collins (James Murray) and deceptively mellow "human weapon" Casey Malick (Tim Blake Nelson). Together with Rick, they form a tight team that gets the job done when they're not ribbing each other or circumventing their superiors and red tape. Executive producer Tom Spezialy said that inspiration for the series came from two different places. "I've always been a fan of the Four Musketeers tale and wanted an updating of it," he said. "So I always had that in the back of my mind. I was doing research for another TV show. It was the story of an ex-operative who was telling about his time with the agency. On the [book's] dust cover it said, 'The CIA spent a lot of money, killed a lot of people, accomplished very little.' I thought, 'Well, that's probably more accurate than most representations of the CIA.'" Chaos premieres on April 1 at 8/7 c on CBS. Source: TV Guide

Hiya everyone! Found a little more from the TCA Winter Press tour. Here's the Canadian TV Guide article... as well as the various tweets from the reporters from that day. The article does tie in with one of the comments Eric made about shooting in Vancouver. Hehe! [glow=red,2,300]2011 TCA Winter Press Tour[/glow]CBS Sends Comedy To CanadaBy Amber Dowling 2011-01-14 Newest Eye laffer heads north Starring: Freddy Rodrigues, Eric Close, Tim Blake Nelson and Carmen Ejogo. On the heels of CBC’s latest spy comedy, Insecurity, comes a CBS version of a similar project — Chaos, which happens to be filmed in Vancouver. The series stars Freddy Rodriguez as Rick Martinez, a young man whose biggest dream growing up was to eventually become a part of the CIA. But when he finally gets there, nothing goes according to plan, mostly thanks to his new boss, H.J. Higgins, played by That ‘70s Show’s Kurtwood Smith. He’s soon whipped into shape by his new and experienced colleagues, though, played by Eric Close, James Murray, Tim Blake Nelson, Carmen Ejogo and Christina Cole. “It’s not parody,” warns executive producer Tom Spezialy. “What I’m impressed by with the real CIA operatives is that we’re used to seeing them being supported by a lot of technology. In reality, they have very little. These are the guys traveling the world and surviving on their wits. Our guys are constantly thrown in challenging and compromising positions, and they have to figure out how to get out.” We see lots of that in the pilot, which is clearly still trying to figure itself out. Not only does Martinez have a hard time figuring out who to trust, but so does the viewer — in the most non-dramatic way possible. As one critic notes, the series feels as though it would work on Fox, ABC or NBC, but that it’s completely out of tune with CBS’s current schedule. As for filming in Canada, it seems as though the actors have conflicting feelings about the location. “It’s sunny, every day of the year,” jokes Close. “Thank God it’s not Toronto. No, Vancouver is beautiful, you’ve got the ocean. The random snowstorms come out of nowhere sometimes, but it’s pretty.”“If the show continues,” adds Nelson, “you run out of options, perhaps, and we’d have to move. But for a season or two anyway, it actually gives opportunities for the places the CIA does actually go. The former Soviet Union, Amsterdam, the North Korean-China border. So far, it’s working well.” Chaos debuts Friday, April 1, 8 p.m. ET, CBS. Hey, I just saw my first CHAOS promo last night during NCIS (speaking of, so excited about EM guest starring!). It was just a white screen that read, "CHAOS in April" with this buzzing noise. I'm guessing they are slowing trying to build a buzz (pun intended) before really going with advertising. But, yay! It's starting up!

It's so exciting that the promos have already started. I can't wait to see EM on NCIS. If I remember correctly people described him as a hyperactive 8 year old on the set because he always had so much energy. Interviews I have seen with Michael Weatherly show him to be a very energetic crazy person. I can't imagine what it would be like with the 2 of them together. These episodes should prove to be very interesting.

Hiya everyone! As mentioned earlier today via the official CHAOS Facebook and Twitter page, there's going to be some sort of 'CHAOS Premiere' Event going on this upcoming Sunday, March 13, 2011 in Austin, Texas. Now I have looked around and found this... Apparently, right now, the only people schedule to appear at this live event are executive producer Brett Ratner and stars Freddy Rodriguez and Tim Blake Nelson. I'm not sure if they are going to have an actual Premiere Party for CHAOS hosted by the network where the rest of the cast will come... I'm not sure they even had one for WAT when it premiered... But I guess I will keep my eyes and ears open there. In the meantime though, here's the info I found. PS: I have uploaded a picture of the 'invite' to ImageBam. Apparently, Imageshack these days is now starting to 'shrink' pictures... Argh... Anyhoo, the picture should be in full size once you click on the thumbnail preview picture.
