Meanwhile, though Jack is excited to introduce Anne to his younger daughter, Kate, Anne is anxious about how Kate will respond to meeting her.

Tonights episode (only a couple more left of the season...sob!! ) 'Shattered' has the following description: A teen amateur skater vanishes from a skating rink where she was training, and the rink manager is suspected when it is discovered that he served time for raping a 14-year-old girl. (doesn't anybody do background checks anymore? How did this pervert get hired to work around kids!!??) I'm guessing from the fact we saw alot of Martin's character last week and since the promo for this eppy (see CBS.com) doesn't show him at all, we might not get much of EC. Hey, 2 talk shows appearances in 3 days, who's complaining?? So, let the comments begin!!

A good episode. Elena didn't bother me. I liked seeing Sam and Elena work together. I'd rather see them friendly than as rivals.
I liked that Kate seems to have a bit of a crush on Danny. I would have choosen Martin, but Danny is really cute too. Jack's reaction was kind of cute. I can't decide if Kate's reaction to Jack's dating made sense or not. She seemed far to calm about the whole thing and almost eager for her Dad to take his ring off.
In some interview, Poppy mentioned how this show has made her more protective of her sisters and friends given the number of the victims that are women. I bet that fact so many episodes involves kids makes EC, AP, and MB feel even more protective of their kids.
They rink manager guy changed his name so a background check is harder to do (that's why some places want finger prints to check if you are going to work with kids). Considering that some how the Department of Homeland Security missed the fact that their deputy press secretary was a pedophile, until he was arrested my faith in background checks is not strong.

I missed the first half. It was my husband's bday so we went out. were there any M/S moments? I guess not since no one has said. I was kinda confused with it since I missed the beginning. I'll have to reread the spoiler section for this ep to figure it out. lol I agree about Jack's daughter. A little eager for him to take his ring off. Though, I guess she was just letting him know that she understood and was ok with him moving on from her mom. He did say he still wore it because of the kids.

I thought the episode was ok. Nothing too spectacular. However, I did think Jack was sweet in the whole episode with Anne and Kate. I really like him that way rather than brooding all the time.
Is it just me or do you think they are deliberatly keeping M/S away from each other. From the spoilers I've read (Thanks Jenn...love them) there were supposed to be some M/S scenes and it seems like in the last couple of episodes they have cut them all out. I kinda just wonder if it is on purpose to take focus off them or if it just fits better into the script...any other thoughts?

I'm not sure it is deliberate. From what I've heard on this and other list some of the pairings are fluid based on schedules so if there is no reason that a character *has* to be there things change.

An okay episode with some predictable scenes (the dad not having a work emergency) and some funny scenes (Elena, Danny and Binky ;D). Hehe, gotta love that Elena/Danny moments. But the ending was cute. I really like Kate (I forget if she is the older or younger one) and when she took off Jack's wedding band. She's so cute!! Is it me or does it seem that Sam always deals with cases where children run away from home? This case, that one case last year where the girl thought her dad killed these girls....Maybe it's probably cuz she can relate with them on the matter. But the one thing that pissed me off during this ep was that the writer allow Jack and Ann to show their relationship during the show, but not Martin and Sam. I get that J/A let people know but they still could've given us a few stolen moments for M/S, like a kiss in the elevator or something.

I couldn't agree more! They should have shown more samrty moments. Though I still have faith in the flashbacks... I wish we could see some romance at least as a memory of one of them... Anyway, the Kate scene sounds cute and she's the younger, Hanna is the older and the one who seems to be angry with Jack all the time.

I think Sam gets the angst filled teenage girls because she seems to understand them. In general, if they aren't real sure what happened but think there might have been sexual assault involved they would have Viv, Elena, or Sam be the ones to approach the girl if possible. Kind of like how they sent Martin (or was it Danny) to talk to the boy they brought back to the station in the Andy Deaver case.

Yeah I wasn't surprised it was Samantha that was sent to go pick her up. Samantha really can relate to the victims since she hasn't had it easy either. She always had to prove herself and has been caught in dead-in situations with Keller and Jack in the past. I really hope they'll show more M/S in the upcoming episodes and seaso five. Also have to say I liked two scenes a lot 1. Where Danny puts " Binky" in Elena 's face and she mutters how she just had lunch 2. When Danny tellls them that Binky isn't a regular rat from the street. Vivian and Martin give a weird look as they asked," You named the rat?" Liked the scene with Kate and Jack and the one at the end with Anne. It was okay episode with a few great moments. Vivian had a nice hair style. Samantha looked nice. Now Elena could use a new do.

Slowpoke and Rofy, I was thinking the exact same thing! On the one hand, I'm glad that Jack seems to have moved on and is happy with his new woman. But, on the other hand, I'm really pissed that we constantly get these cutesy scenes with the two of them when we never got anything like that with MS (who were a much steamier and more attractive couple) for an entire season. I'm all for keeping Jack and Anne together, but I don't really care about seeing the relationship played out on camera!

Liked this episode.
Danny and humour go hand in hand. And the Danny/Elena moment was cute. Also cute was Jack with Anne and Jack with his daughter. Sweet moments.
They really need to give Vivian more to do! I feel she's being severely left out. Not a lot of Martin in this one either. And Samantha always gets the angsty teenage girls. Nice ending to the story though.

But the one thing that pissed me off during this ep was that the writer allow Jack and Ann to show their relationship during the show, but not Martin and Sam. You know, maybe I'm a bit too optimistic about this, but if they start playing out the Jack/Anne relationship so intensely on the show, it might be possible that, if Martin and Sam rekindle their relationship one day, we'll also get more moments with them. At the beginning, the show was mostly about the cases, not too much personal stuff on the characters, and even though the M/S relationship was already in season 3, they (obviously) handled things (namely relationships) differently then. So, maybe, Jack/Anne getting so much screen time is a good thing for us M/S fans. And besides, I'm really starting to like them together. In this episode, Anne was just so cute being all nervous about meeting his daughter, and Kate was just adorable. I loved both of them.

I really enjoyed this episode even though there was little Eric in it. Elena is starting to grow on me more and more and Im sure that was the point. I have a feeling next season we will see Danny and Elena's relationship develop more.
And I was wondering if anyone knew who played Katie in this episode? She was a very cute little actor and I was just interested in who she was.
